I hope everyone had a wonderful time at Buckaroo this year! The rain threatened the fun, but like always, young and old alike managed to have a great time.
Speaking of the rain, that time of year has come. While we desperately hold on to the last few minutes of sunshine, know that at any time that six-month long drizzle fest will break out. At Aftercare we are outside for recess every day, so make sure your child has the proper rain gear for the coming weather.

Our year so far has been a fun one! All of our areas are up and running. If you are new to the program, you have likely learned that we like to give the kids plenty of variety when it comes to activity space.
We have the gym and outside for running around, the auditorium and lounge for creative minds, and the cafe for toys, games, and imaginations.
We try to give the students every opportunity to engage their bodies and their minds here at Aftercare, in whatever way they see fit.

Already in the young school year, clubs and special activities are abound at Aftercare. Rebecca, Jane, and Jessica lead a Fiber Arts Club that teaches the students knitting, crocheting and finger weaving.
Also, Homework Club takes place every Monday-Thursday up in the library after recess with sign up sheets available at reception.
Some of our young fashionistas have published the first edition of this year’s Miss Fashion, a magazine highlighting the top trends at Ainsworth this fall. Issues are available for 50 cents in the cafe this week, with the proceeds going towards the fund for a new playground.
Coming up, Superhero Week will descend upon Aftercare. All week we will design projects and games around the wide universe of superheroes, and on Friday, we encourage the kids to dress up as their favorite. Capes are highly encouraged!

Finally, Halloween is just around the corner, and our fifth graders have already started planning this year’s haunted house. Children from every grade will get to walk through the dark and creepy maze (though a lit tour will be available for those who find it a little too scary). We will have regular hours on Halloween Day, though the attire should be anything but ordinary.
Have a great month of October everyone!
