A Full February

Let’s take a look back as our shortest month of the year draws to a close. What an eventful month it was: Kids Night Out, The Lunar New Year, and two surprising snow days!

Kids Night Out was a fantastic time with balloon animals, face painting, circus tricks such as jumping through ‘flaming’ hoops, and crafts galore! At the end of the night we settled in the auditorium for Madagascar 3, all of our glow sticks, bracelets and rings coming together to make a warm glow.

Post Office Week was so much fun with our Post Office in Dramatic Play. Each day prospective mail carriers interviewed for the position. Once hired, they donned the mail carrier uniform, bag and a smile and were off delivering letters to students and teachers. Valentine’s Day also fell during this week so our mail carriers had their hands full!

The abundance of snow threw a small wrench into our Mindfulness week plans, but nonetheless we were able to practice our mindfulness skills! We colored and beaded mindfully, made Calming Glitter Jars, and took Mindful Moments in the gym before games.

Feeling centered, we are going into the last week of the month which is all about the Harlem Renaissance! We have activities planned to highlight artists including Lois Jones and Jacob Lawrence.
