Recent Theme Weeks

Hello again parents and kids alike,

We here at Aftercare like to provide a fun experience for students after the school bell rings at 2:15, and one of the ways we do that is by presenting different themes from week to week. Below are some examples of recent themes:

This week’s theme centered on the world of fairies, led by Fairy Club in the lounge during second choice. This Friday, March 15 we will throw a Fairy Club Party in the lounge throughout every choice, meaning all those interested can come join us for sparkly, magical fun and treats.

The little toadstools are the perfect resting spots for fairies of all ages.

Another recent theme week was Author’s Week, when the Dramatic Play area was transformed into a mini library full of books, library cards, cushy reading areas, and checkout counters.

A quiet spot to read… for the time being

Going back a bit, we also celebrated Chinese New Year with a parade around the playground that featured a large snake powered by Luke the teacher and students who helped in its production. As you can see in the montage below, the once proud snake met an unfortunate end when its head separated completely from the body.

The celebration spilled outside to the playground.

Our theme weeks are meant to excite and inspire the kids to think creatively and disappear into another world far from Ainsworth. If you have the chance, pop over to the corner of the cafeteria opposite the reception desk and check out our young friends hard at play in a different world, whether it be a fairy’s den, a quiet library, or a Far East sanctuary.
