Spring Happenings

We’ve been busy as bees at Aftercare! Here’s a look at some of the events and activities we’ve been doing lately!

“Life” Long Day

April brought us our last long day of the school year. We continued our game board theme and ended with the game “Life” which was filled with many career-based activities and useful skills. Even the firefighters from our local station stopped by to show and tell about their career, and students were able to go inside the fire truck! It was such a warm day we were able to have fun outside with bubbles and enjoy the bounce houses and bouncy obstacle course that we had for our final long day.

Kid’s Bazaar

We had another amazing year at our annual Kid’s Bazaar, and in true Portland fashion our bazaar went on despite the rain! Students were creative with their crafts and turned shoelaces and socks into “soctopus” animals to sell at the bazaar, as well as braiding the shoelaces into bracelets and lanyards. Other crafts made for the bazaar included many origami projects, purses, rainbow loom jewelry, hair bows, and so much more! Some of the 5th graders worked on a special project that was raffled off, and other students offered massages. It truly was a great bazaar!

Stay tuned for upcoming news on the end of the year festivities of Shakespeare Week, Cinco de Mayo, and Campout Week!
