Spring has Arrived!

The sun has arrived at Ainsworth After Care! Students and teachers alike are overjoyed to be out in the sunshine in the afternoons, and with the warm weather comes many fun activities.

Fairy Club

Rebecca recently ran Fairy Club, a chance for our most mystical of students to build and play in the world of fairies. From a hollowed out log and toadstools in the dramatic play area to Fairy House construction in the Lounge, our students transformed our spaces into magical playgrounds.

Puppet Club

A week of puppetry just concluded at After Care. There, the kids created their own puppets and then took them to the dramatic play area to put on their very own show at the puppet theater. As the week went on, the puppet making became more and more complex, and on the final day, the puppeteers marched through recess showing off some of their giant creations.

Long Day

On Friday, we had one of our first long days in some time. Our program traveled back to the ancient dynasties of Central and South America, and our students passed the time by constructing Mayan temples, playing ancient Incan board games, and watching Emperor’s New Groove to finish up the day.

Our field trip was a new one! After lunch, we all piled on the bus and went out to the Portland Aquarium. There, our students got a hands on experience with some fascinating sea creatures, as well as lizards, snakes, and a very talkative parrot. Our kids had an absolute blast reaching in and touching the animals, learning from the tour guides, and playing in the jungle themed play structure.
