As the year draws to a close and we prepare to say goodbye to our 5th graders, we can’t help but be grateful to know all of Ainsworth Afterschool’s students. May and June have been full of “lasts” for some students and for our kindergarteners, many introductions to fun traditions!
Our students worked for weeks on items to sell at Kid’s Bazaar. We traded popcorn seeds for handmade gifts such as hand warmers, ninja dolls, party hats, bookmarks, custom slime, fingerknitted goods, and paper airplanes!
Campout week was so much fun! We took a group trip up to the greenspace and enjoyed each grade’s songs and skits. All of this wonderful sun has given us lots of chalk art and kickball opportunities. We also love that bubbles bridge the age and grade gap.
Our end-of-the-year carnival was a blast where we enjoyed a hula and fire dance by some of our students. Our lovely teachers, J, Jeff and Kaia were also nominated by the kids to join the performance. We had snacks, a duck pond, a cake walk, a throwing game and a booth where if you wished to be pied, you could. The day was wrapped up with a popsicle treat and a viewing of Lilo & Stitch.
We have had such a wonderful year with Ainsworth’s fabulous kids and we can’t wait to join them again next year.
Enjoy the summer!
