Theme Weeks

September 30th – October 4th | BUCKAROO WEEK
We will be celebrating the school’s Buckaroo carnival all week, making Sheriff badges, wanted posters, toothpick cactus art, and bandana bracelets.

October 7th – October 10th | RENAISSANCE WEEK
Students will have the opportunity to design their own coat of arms, build paper bag castles and Da Vinci structures, and maker a variety of masquerade masks, jester hats, and crowns.

October 14th – October 18th | SUPERHERO WEEK
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s Superhero Week at AASEP! Students can design their very own superhero and make their entire costume, including masks, capes, arm cuffs, shields, headbands, and more!

October 21st – October 25th | HARRY POTTER WEEK
Join us in the wizarding world, as we make dragon eggs, paper bag owls, magic wands, Hogwarts house scarves, potion slime, and even play a game or two of Quidditch.


October 28th – October 31st | HALLOWEEN WEEK

Everyone is encouraged to wear their costumes on Halloween day. We will have a variety of art activities, including clothespin bats, pumpkin plate art, and tissue ghosts. Students will also learn about Día de los Muertos and make sugar skulls.

REMINDERS:
• Homework Club begins October 1st. This is a quiet space provided for students to focus on schoolwork. A teacher is available for occasional questions. Students may voluntarily go, or you may sign them up at our reception area.
• AASEP Fall Yoga will begin soon! 8 classes for $40, taught by Margo Lightburn. Classes are on Thursdays, 2:15pm-3:00pm.We now have a sign-up sheet at the reception area. Space is limited.
• AASEP will have an after-school chess class on Fridays, 2:15pm to 3:15pm, through The Knight School. You may sign up at the following link: http://www.theknightschool.com/ • If your student is attending an outside activity, please remember to sign them up on our Outside Activity Release form (pink clipboard) at the reception area. We cannot release students without written authorization.
• We do not allow any toys from home at AASEP. Stuffy Days (Wednesdays) are the exception, so long as the stuffed animal is small enough to fit into their backpack.
