Welcome Back

We are back into the swing of things here at Ainsworth, and we can’t help but be happy to continue the school year into 2013 and reconnect with all of our friends.

All of us here at Ainsworth Aftercare hope you and yours had a beautiful and relaxing winter break. While we are excited to be back in school, we have all been battling the cold weather right along with your children. We encourage you again to make sure your child has a warm jacket, as we will be outside at recess everyday.

This month has already been full of fun activities. We celebrated the winter chill with Polar Express Week, highlighted by many wintry projects, then followed it up with a call for world peace in our Peace Week. Friday’s Peace March was a resounding success, as children held signs and sang songs celebrating the pursuit of peace around the world. A special congratulations goes out to all the students who earned Peace Awards as well.

The rest of the month promises more exciting opportunities, including Basketball Club that will span from Tuesday 1/22-1/25. Children of all ages are invited to learn new basketball skills and play fun games on the hardwood during second choice all week. Have your child talk to Evan or Rebecca if interested.

Fiber Arts Club is also on its way, where students will learn finger-knitting, knitting, and crochet. Donations of yarn are greatly appreciated!

Speaking of donations, we are also collecting old electronics that are safe for children to disassemble, as we will soon be taking apart old gadgets to discover their inner workings in Deconstruction Club.

While we are talking about clubs, homework club is back up and running. If you want your child to spend first choice, about 30 minutes near the beginning of Aftercare, exclusively on homework, talk to Juan, Heather, or the front desk.

Here are some of our studious friends hard at work

Cindy has also organized an art project for the upcoming Red Ball that is done entirely by your children here at Aftercare. We don’t want to give away too much, but the kids have already produced some impressive artwork.

A few of our youngest in mid creation

In all, it has been a fantastic first few weeks back. Some important dates to note coming up. There is no school on February 1, as the teachers will have an in-service day. Aftercare will be open for a long day, and our theme will be “Explore Africa.” More on that in a later post. Sign up sheets for the long day are available at reception. Also, on February 18 it is President’s Day, so both school and Aftercare will be closed.

Have a great week and we look forward to seeing you and your children back at Ainsworth Aftercare.
