Can you believe that we are already to Holiday break? Time has certainly flown by for us here at Ainsworth Aftercare, but outside of the festivities of the winter months ahead, here are some important things to remember.
This Friday, December 14, is the final day of Aftercare before the break. We will be off for two and a half weeks, with Wednesday, January 2 marked as our return date, just as it is with regular school days.
Also noteworthy, your December bills are here. Families pay full tuition in December, and this payment covers both December and June tuition.
With the winter months comes the possibility of snow. If we do indeed get some flakes this winter, check your local news for school closures. If Portland Public School District is closed, so too is Aftercare. Also, should Ainsworth Elementary decide on an early release due to weather, Aftercare will again be closed.
As we enter the cold, dark days of winter, we see more and more kids retreat from outside and find warmth inside. The auditorium has been a popular place for Legos and of course, dance parties.
Lego Club
For our most dedicated of builders, Lego Club has been a big hit again, as teacher Luke provides daily challenges for the young engineers to tackle every Friday afternoon. Luke will be throwing a party for the most dedicated of Lego Club participants this week, as he celebrates another successful year of imagination and cooperation.
Homework Club Party
Speaking of clubs and parties, Monday will be the Homework Club Party for all the regular attendees of our daily study sessions. We will take a break from the math problems, spelling lists, and reading logs for a celebration of all their hard work. If your child cannot make it on Monday, please let Juan know, as he will provide smaller versions of the celebration throughout the week.
We have also started to make piñatas in the lounge! The construction will continue throughout this week and we plan to bust them open during recess on Friday.
Donations
We are currently collecting spare Danimal Yogurt bottles, toilet paper tubes, and yarn from any who feel willing to give. We would like to extend a grateful thanks to Max K. for donating his Legos and toys.
